Keep Your Novel on Track in 2024!
Bring me your sags, your slogs, your mushy middles longing to be firm
Writing or revising a novel? I’m signing up the *last two slots* in my novel workshop, which meets in-person in Austin from Jan. 31-April 24. Writers may bring any part of a novel draft to workshop, but craft talks and instruction will focus on the long middle section—yeah, that’s right, the mushy, muddled middle!—where many novels lose steam. We’ll discuss plotting and pacing techniques to keep your novel on track, as well as process tools to help you stay joyful and motivated in your writing life.
As a refresher, I believe:
Writing shouldn’t be a slog.
Organic structure enhances character, style, & substance.
Supportive feedback > criticism.

"Meeting," Remedios Varo, 1959. Opening a tiny little box every day and staring into your very soul until you've got 300 pages written is tiring. A supportive workshop environment can help.
Exciting! Congrats on the workshop! <3
